If you have a water tank at home, now is the time to clear gutters and clean filters ready to catch all that free rainwater in your tank. Most importantly, inspect the filter on top of your tank to ensure it is not blocked. These filters are a fine mesh and take very little to block them. If the top filter is blocked, not only will you lose water but this causes a lot of damage to property.

When the top mesh is blocked is all the water gushes over the top of the tank and over time erodes the sand or gravel base and in the case of a slim tank it can fall over, so a further inspection of the base is also very important. If you have a slim line Water Tank also take into consideration that it should be on a concrete base in accordance with any warranty from the factory, don’t forget to check the pump and connections for any leaks.

If you have purchased a new home or have had your water tanks connected to toilets or the laundry you need to be aware there are two ways this can be done, and depending on which way, you may think you are using tank water when in fact you are using mains water especially when watering the garden. This is an important aspect to check because you may not be complying with the current water restriction for your area and also incurring high water bills. Please feel free to contact me with any of your concerns. .

At tipples water tanks we know water tanks inside out, so when looking for a water tank be it slim line or round give tipples a call. Because we believe in giving people all the right information from the start so you the customer can make an informed decision on what you buy.

Not all rain water tanks are made from the same high quality materials that all water tanks should be.

We can tell you if the water tank you are looking to purchase, no matter the brand, is up to the Australian standard for water tanks. Also we can inform you of the correct installation procedures so you do not void warranties, especially regarding slim line water tanks.

Slim line water tanks are molded using a two piece mold that has a vertical seem running the entire length of the tank, and in some cases across. This design in its self complicates the manufacturing of such water tanks for they are rotationally cooked in a big oven which heats up a powder and liquefies it so it can roll around the mold to build up the required thickness to withhold the extreme pressure it will be under its serviceable life. If good quality material is not used here or a not enough used you will end up with problems. There are still a few manufacturers that put customer satisfaction and product quality before large profits, so if space is at a premium chose a well designed slimline.

Round water tanks are made in a one piece mold, and only the lid removes so the tank can come out of the mould. There is very little pressure at the top of a round water tank, most of the thickness is required at the heal or bottom of the water tank. Water is most happy sitting in a cup , thus there is less material need to restrain the water and this type of tank is usually cheaper to buy and can be designed to store larger volumes of water.  So if you have a budget in mind, choose a round tank for your water storage.
